For the second time, WDBJ7 has partnered with a television station in Ukraine to share ideas and help encourage free media throughout that region of Eastern Europe. The partnership is sponsored by IREX, the International Resource and Exchanges Board. IREX's work is supported by the U.S. State Department.
The partnership includes four visits in all. WDBJ7 employees travel to Rivne, Ukraine twice and employees of Rivne-1 come to Roanoke twice. WDBJ7 General Manager, Jeff Marks, and Sales Manager, Ray Sullivan, made the first trip to Ukraine in May. The group from the Ukrainian television station is here in Roanoke this week and will return again in the fall.
The representatives from Rivne-1 are presenting information about their television station and market conditions to the management staff of WDBJ7. During the week WDBJ7 will be working with Rivne-1 employees as they study our operation's news, sales, production and internet departments.
WDBJ 7 completed its first partnership with Vezha television and radio station in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine in 2005.
Ukrainian guests are welcomed by WDBJ7 General Manager, Jeff Marks.
